So in practical terms – what will you receive?

• Free access to an open work space in a building that has been designated a historical landmark, located in the heart of Tel Aviv 
• A free 3-month trial period
• Free use of the conference rooms in the building
• Amazing facilities, including Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchenette, living room and more
• Networking, emotional support and an ongoing option to consult with young adults engaged in culture and community in Tel Aviv-Yafo
• Connections with Mazeh 9 and people at the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, if relevant

What will you need to give in exchange?

• A commitment to use the work space at least three times a week
• A commitment to attend a monthly meeting of all The Lounge users
• Should you choose to continue using The Lounge after the trial period, it will entail a subsidized monthly fee which is earmarked for advancing programs and activities for young adults in the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo. The amount of the monthly fee will be posted at a later date.

So where’s the catch?

There is no catch. Mazeh 9 is the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality’s Young Adults Center and our goal is to improve the lives of young adults in the city, especially those who are working to better its culture, community and society. We do that by providing a variety of tools to the city’s residents. The Lounge is a vision that we have had for a long time and it is finally becoming a reality.

The Lounge – A Space for People Who Make the City

The Lounge at Mazeh 9 is a space for creators, entrepreneurs and producers who are advancing projects that have an impact on life in Tel Aviv-Yafo – in the fields of culture, society and community. The Lounge offers an open and dynamic work space in the heart of Tel Aviv and creates connections between young adults who are working to better the community and culture in the city.

A few technical details:

• Use of The Lounge includes a workspace, Wi-Fi, access to conference rooms, a coffee corner and kitchenette, a printer and fax machine – yeah, you read right: a fax machine.
• Use of The Lounge is intended for young adults who are advancing projects and initiatives that have to do with culture, community and society in Tel Aviv-Yafo.
• To determine if your interests are a good fit with The Lounge, you’ll be asked to come in and meet with the project coordinator in order to clarify mutual expectations. 
• Use of The Lounge during the first three months is free. Following the trial period, use of The Lounge will entail a nominal fee whose amount will be posted at a later date.
• In total, use of The Lounge is limited to a period of nine months.

Mazeh 9 is open Sunday to Thursday from 9 am to 10 pm and The Lounge can be used throughout the day.

The Center is closed on Friday and Saturday and on holidays.

Arnona discount

New eligible olim are entitled to a 90% discount on arnona (up to 100 meters) up to one year during the first two years of residence in Tel Aviv. To claim this benefit visit the Tel Aviv Yafo Municipality on 69 Ibn Gvirol St with your Teudat Oleh, your rental contract one-year (minimum), and the Arnona bill. You would go, change your arnona bill to your name, and apply for the discount on the spot. (While you are there, across the Hall is the DigiTel desk to sign up for your Tel Aviv Resident’s card (see below))>

Insider’s Tips:

• Your name must be on the arnona bill to receive the discount.
• Your rental contract must be for at least one year, and not be a sublet…

How to Pay Arnona: 

There are several ways to pay for arnona. 

• You can pay with one payment in advance: you can pay in advance for an entire year’s worth of municipal property but must then send payments no later than January 31 of that year 
• or in periodical payments: six payments (two months’ worth of payment at a time). Each of these bimonthly payments is due by the end of every odd month. 
• Your payments can be made through credit card via the municipal website, by phone (03-5218666), by the postal bank, or the Municipal service center located at 69 Ibn Gvirol St; through standing order at the bank in six bi-monthly payments, deducted on the third of every other month, or with a credit card in six bi-monthly payments; or through cash/check via postal bank or the Municipal Service Center.

Vaad Bayit – Please note that in Israel, most apartments have a Housing Committee – the Vaad Bayit. The Vaad Bayit is usually some of the homeowners in the building that manage the building’s infrastructure and cleanliness. It is important to inquire about the fee and its expected payment timeframe.
